Troops Captured Gajabapura - Oct 22, 2008
Troops have consolidated their positions in the Gajabapura area. Our Special Representative Sujith Kumara said Gajabapura was captured by the soldiers two days ago. They captured the area after nine years. Our Representative said they were the first media team to visit the location after its capture. The Security Forces have seized the artillery camp, the tank and the village. LTTE had been very active in their fortification of Gajabapura. The troops had overrun several LTTE terrorist camps and a mortar centre in achieving this victory. The soldiers of the 15th Sinha Regiment under Col. Rasika Fernando achieved this victory. It comes under Commanding Officer Brig. Mohan Jayawardena in Welioya.
